Still Believe in Something

For what is a person to do with no faith?

I suppose I could become the cynic.

Filled with the pessimistic vision

that nothing will ever get better,

Probably only worse, and this

acceptance would give a twisted sense of peace

Nothing would faze me.

I could become the idealist.

It couldn’t possibly get any worse

than this, right?

Surely, better and

brighter days are ahead.

I could choose to still believe in something.

Even when all faith is gone.

No sight of the end of the storm.

I still believe in something.
